We had an unplanned extra day in Split and I was looking for something to do. After a search around, I came across a travel forum discussing day trip ideas - one of them mentioned Omiš, a small Dalmatia town and hidden gem along the Adriatic Sea.It's town sits in front of an incredible view of high a mountains and is nestled between the two sides of the Canyon of Cetina river. At Omiš, you can walk up Fortress Mirabella (Peovica) to see the beauty of the town from above. It's also lovely to walk through the old town and grab a gelato, eat at a pizzeria (we went to Antula, it was great!) and shop at its little souvenir stores. You can also do a hike to Fort Starigrad too - I've got a full post on that coming next. There are much less crowds here than Split and its also much smaller than Split, making it the perfect place to spend a day. Cetina river and the beach side are also beautiful places to relax though we didn't get the chance to visit as it was way too hot be under the sun when we were there. The beauty of Omis is unarguable and all of this is only a 45 minute bus ride from Split. I so, so recommend a day trip to Omis.Photos: Thomas Debono & I
