Hi, I’m Connie Cao
I’m a passionate urban permaculture gardener, photographer, presenter and content creator at @connieandluna. I focus on creating engaging and educational content about growing food and flowers in backyards and small spaces. My areas of expertise include:
Edible gardening: especially Asian veggies, berries and small space fruit.
Flower growing: flowers are so important for the garden, both as food for the soul and food for our little insect friends. My special interests include growing cut flowers and edible & beneficial flowers.
Permaculture living: composting, backyard chicken-keeping, preserving & garden diy projects.
I’m also the author of Your Asian Veggie Patch, a comprehensive (yet beginner-friendly) guide to growing and cooking delicious Asian veggies, herbs & fruits. Published by Murdoch Books (2024), available worldwide. In my opinion, it’s the book for knowing and growing Asian food and covers everything from kang kong and snake beans, to jujubes and shiso.
I currently write for ABC Organic Gardener Magazine, am the resident garden columnist at The Design Files, and a regular guest on ABC Radio Melbourne and 3CR Gardening Show.
You may have also seen me on ABC Australia, The Garden Hustle (Ch 9), The Bright Side (Ch 10), or as a presenter for The Diggers Club, Grow it Local or at your local library author talk.
