Innisfree Haul 2016 Taiwan skincare beauty makeup korean shopping 1

It's been a while since I've invested in a new skincare routine or tried new products. I love my western skincare brands and have used them all my life however when I was in Taiwan, I got completely distracted by the availability of a whole new world of skincare product - Asian skincare. As we were living in the bustling Zhongxiao Dunhua Rd station area, it meant that everything was within a step's distance. Within 200 metres of me was about 6 7/11s (the density of 7/11s in Taiwan is a ridiculous thing in itself), 4 pharmacies and way too many clothing stores, cafes and eateries to even count. On one of my days off in Taipei (we stayed in Taipei on our off days, and filmed around Taiwan on our working days) I walked around aimlessly down the street and discovered Innisfree. Innisfree, an extremely popular Korean skincare and beauty brand with an emphasis on natural ingredients, is one I've actually already heard great things about. So because of this brand recognition, I was intrigued as to what I should try..One thing led to another and about eight hours later, I had via YouTube and beauty blogs thoroughly educated myself on the must-buy items in Asia as well as the Korean 10 step skincare routine. Oh, and the below kind of happened - my first Taiwan skincare/beauty haul post is here. This one's just focused on Innisfree as I purchased so much here, but the one after will share all the other products I picked up too.Pretty sure you won't see anymore 'haul' style posts here after this - I've never been one to shop excessively but felt like this time, as I was already finishing off most of my current products, that it would be a great time to try some new things out.

So the left image is what I purchased and the right image is all the gifts with purchase / free products that I acquired from my purchases. It seems to me that Innisfree is massive on giving out product samples of their best-sellers. Perhaps a strategy that contributes to why they are just so popular!

1) INNISFREE 'IT'S REAL' SQUEEZE FACIAL SHEET MASKS

In Australia, bottled cream masks which you apply directly to your skin are popular but in Asia, sheet masks are all the rage. Innisfree's 'it's real squeeze masks' are a bestseller of the brand so naturally, I wanted to give these a go. There were so many different choices and I didn't want to take the whole store home so I picked out a few to try based on my skin type and recommendations from the shop assistant - kiwi (though this one is for sensitive skin and I'm passing onto a friend), green tea, cucumber, aloe and bamboo. They were only 35NTD (1.50AUD) each!

Another super popular cult product from Innisfree is their super volcanic clay mask - but in the tub version. From the videos and reviews and posts I was reading online, everyone claimed it was a miracle product that minimised their pores, removed excess sebum and just made their skin crazy good. I umm-ed over trying this one out as I wasn't sure if I needed more mask products but eventually caved in because I just couldn't find a bad review on this product and wanted to see how this was possible.I ended up taking home the Mousse Mask version of this product - this is Innisfree's newest release replacing the previous tub format one. I can't find it online yet, it must be super new. It actually applies like hair mousse on your face which is really different and fun. The shop assistant said that it's the exact same formula as the old version but has added hydration effects. Can't wait to try this one out. It cost 690NTD (30AUD).[ezcol_3fifth][/ezcol_3fifth] [ezcol_2fifth_end][/ezcol_2fifth_end]

3) LIP TINTS

Lip tints are all the rage in Asia but only recently starting to take off in Western brands found in Australia. I've always loved products like tinted lip balms (e.g. my Clinique Chubby Stick) or lipstick/lip balm hybrids (Dior Rouge Baume products are the ULTIMATE in this category) so the idea of lip tints in abundance really excited me to no end. The fact that I already had so many holy grail products at home in this category completely went out the window for me and I ended up picking up some more from Innisfree. After some extended in-store swatching I purchased:Innisfree Vivid Tint Rouge (410NTD/18AUD)

  • #03 - This was the first shade I bought to try out before I went back for more. It's a gorgeous orange-based red that looks surprisingly natural.

  • #09 - This is a gorgeous light plum shade which I'm glad I picked up because I haven't a colour like this back home!

  • #04 - This is your standard kind of red and after trying it on, I couldn't not take home this classic shade as well.

  • #10 - This is a more natural hued pink. It's probably as 'nude' as I'd ever go in a lip product as my lips are naturally quite pigmented and dark so anything 'nude' generally looks a bit silly on me. It's the only product I didn't try out (as I was already wearing the another lip tint so it would not have been an accurate test) but can't wait to give it a go too.

The Vivid Tint Rouge range have a really nice sweet candy scent and the thing I love most about this product is a tip I learnt off Youtube. If you apply the lip tint on (it's a gel-like consistency) then wait a few moments and blot with a tissue, you end up with a really natural, less intense looking lip tint. Perfect trick for every day wear.Innisfree Eco Flower Tint Balm in 'rose' (290NTD/12.60AUD)A lip product I liked even more was the Eco Flower Tint Balm. I've been wearing it most days since. It's similar to my Clinique Chubby Stick (which is almost out) but feels even more hydrating. I wanted to take home multiples of these but sadly this was the only shade that matched my skin tone. It's definitely one of those every day 'my lips but better' products.

4) INNISFREE ECO-SCIENCE EYE CREAM

I've always been on a passive hunt for an eye cream and my off-days in Taipei presented the perfect opportunity finish this task. After googling reviews, I ended up on Innisfree again. All of their eye creams had really good reviews so I found it quite difficult to settle on which one. I ended up choosing the Eco-Science one which is the anti-wrinkle one (#feelingold). I sampled it in store and liked its lightweight consistency (compared to the popular orchid eye cream that was more creamy) as well as the fact that it came in a pump bottle for hygiene's sake. Again, I am excited to see what this product will be like. It retails for 1150NTD/50AUD and is the most expensive product I bought here so fingers crossed it works well.[ezcol_3fifth][/ezcol_3fifth] [ezcol_2fifth_end][/ezcol_2fifth_end]

Over the past year, I've been using the Make up For Ever HD pressed powder and just love it for its natural translucent coverage. My MUFE was however starting to hit pan so I went to look for a similar one in Taiwan. The Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Pact is apparently very similar to MUFE (some call it a dupe) so I hope I love this one just as much! It's 410NTD/17.80AUD here.

6) PERFUMED DIFFUSERS

At the back of the store there were diffuser fragrances in all sorts of beautiful scents like green tea, tangerine blossom, peony, orchid, spring flowers, volcanic ash.. I loved the packaging of these so picked a couple up - one will be a present for a friend. How cute are the twig and flower reed diffuser sticks? I couldn't decide on which so picked up both. The perfumed scents are 720NTD/31AUD, the twig sticks are 160/7AUD and the flower diffuser is 200NTD/8.70AUD. Would have loved to pick up more scents but a home only needs so many reed diffusers.

I won't write too much about the below but I thought I'd share some other products I now have on hand with me thanks to their generous product sample gifts. The orchid enriched cream, super volcanic pore clay mask and green tea seed serum are their bestsellers and this was a cute little pack to try out.[ezcol_1half]

INNISFREE GREEN TEA BALANCING SPECIAL KIT

Again, a little skincare set. The Green Tea Balancing line is tailored for combination skin. The green tea lines are super popular in Innisfree but I didn't purchase any of it as I didn't need any of those products right now. Anyway these samplers shall be fun to try out, especially the 'skin' (toner) which I thought about purchasing for a while.[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]

The 'Second Skin' collection is another one of Innisfree's mask collections - they're a bit more expensive than the 'It's Real' ones and also come in a variety of different types. I didn't read up much about this line but am excited to try out this brightening and hydrating mask nevertheless. Asia is the home of face sheet masks![ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]

INNISFREE GREEN BARLEY MULTI CLEANSING TISSUE

I just love the packaging of Innisfree products! Received these green barley multi-cleansing tissues with my lip tint purchases and will be sharing some with my sister as she loves cleansing tissues.

and of course, some little sample sachets as well :)

So that concludes my haul form Innisfree. My next post shall be the rest of my skincare/beauty haul though I promise it's not as long, I was pretty all shopped out after all of this. Please note that I haven't tried some of the above products yet but have purchased them all based on positive reviews / reviews that suggested they might work for me. So if you are interested in shopping for these, do keep that in mind. I may follow this up with some of my favourite products over the next few months once I get time to test them out for an extended period of time, let me know if you're interested in reading something like this! I've never tried Asian skincare products before so I'm extremely excited to see how they will work on my Asian skin :)Read my Taiwan skincare & beauty haul here.
