And just like that, Autumn is upon us. Though after coming home from Taiwan where they were just finishing up winter, it almost feels like I've been living in a cool climate for a while now.Every season, I'm always trying to find the perfect, most versatile pieces to go with all of my unforgivably crazy wardrobe choices. When I was in Taiwan, I lived right opposite a massive UNIQLO and absolutely loved the huge range of not-so-basic basics that were the perfect building blocks for any wardrobe. I picked up nine pieces (#hauled, oops) to take home with me for myself, my sister and my boyfriend. Yes, you could say I am definitely a fan of the brand.Diversions aside - as the temperature heads south, it's time to bring the knits out of hibernation. To celebrate knitwear season (woohoo!), I'm excited to be collaborating with UNIQLO to share with you how I love using UNIQLO knitwear as a foundation to create my colourful A/W looks. Here are three ways to shop & style UNIQLO knitwear this season.. Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 5[ezcol_1half]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 6a[/ezcol_1half][ezcol_1half_end] Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 6b[/ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 7 Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 8

1) REACH FOR INTERESTING TEXTURES / KNITS

One of my favourite things about getting dressed in the cooler months is the opportunity to play with a whole new realm of fabrics and textures. I love a beautiful knit as much as I love a sheer silk in summer so one of the things I like to look out for when shopping for knits are the interesting weaves and patterns such as a gorgeous cable knit. Who doesn't love cable knit? In fact, I had actually picked up a similar one in a light beige just a few weeks back in Taiwan! This one's super soft and snuggly and the cotton cashmere blend is super soft and warm. Dress up an off-white knit with soft pastels and a hint of metallic.Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 1[ezcol_1half]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 2a[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 2b[/ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 3[ezcol_1half]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 4a[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 4b[/ezcol_1half_end]

2) BE ADVENTUROUS WITH YOUR BASICS PALETTE

I can't see myself in the foreseeable future having a black & white wardrobe - whilst essential to some, for me these colours make me feel uncomfortably corporate looking. But what I can warm up to are things like greys, navys and pinks. Lately also, natural shades like beige and tan. I find these hues are the ones that make up my basics palette. It's these muted hues that work for me and are so useful in my wardrobe. Once upon a time, there was no such thing as 'basics' in my wardrobe. These days, they're absolute essentials. I love the soft and fluffy feel of this sweater - the dusty pink hue is my favourite way to wear pink in winter.Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 9[ezcol_1half]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 10a[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 10b[/ezcol_1half_end]Uniqlo Australia Knitwear Cotton Cashmere Basics Autumn Winter Melbourne Fashion Style Blog 11

3) LAYER UP

When it comes to investing in 100% cashmere (you know, that stuff you'll probably keep forever), I like to stick to super basic shades like this dark grey one above. Whilst a colour choice like this may seem plain to someone who loves colour as much as I do, once you start getting creative and layer, you'll start to realise that basics doesn't mean your entire look has to be basic. These pieces are the bread and butter of any wardrobe and are perfect for wearing under a vibrant coloured coat. The luxurious cashmere is perfect for layering as it's super lightweight and extremely soft on your skin. Definitely worth investing!
