Designing our Dining Space with Pottery Barn

I'm super excited to share with you a recent home project I partnered with Pottery Barn on! Recently, I invited Pottery Barn to our home, enlisting the help of their Design Crew specialist Ebony Quaid to create a beautiful, warm light-filled dining space in our new home.

If you didn't know already, Pottery Barn offers free interior design services for anyone looking to makeover a room or their home. These are 1-on-1 consultations and can happen in your home or at your local Pottery Barn store where you can share your vision with an expert interior designer who can then give ideas and suggest products to suit your needs.

When it comes to interior decor, I love the idea of having an expert on hand because where large decisions are involved, you want to be confident in your choices and know that they'll work in your home for the long-term.

When it came to our brief, this is what I wanted: Our dining space is a large room adjoining our kitchen and one we want to be able to enjoy not only for the two of us, but also to entertain in. I wanted the space to have little bohemian touches and also be a little beachy, so as to bring in a relaxed kind of feel to a room that's quite central in our home and one we always use.

With my Pinterest board on hand and a few lines jotted down, I shared my brief with Ebony who put together a moodboard to bring the vision to life. And she absolutely nailed it! Sometimes, you have an idea in mind on how a room might look, but it's hard to translate it into an actual space so when Ebony shared some of the options she had picked out, I knew we were on the same wavelength.

See below how Ebony designed our Dining Space with Pottery Barn (I can't believe this is our home!)

Our new dining space features the beautiful Benchwright Extending Dining Table in seadrift. I love how this table has a weathered timber look and its lovely black oversized bolts give it a nice pop of contrast. This table is an 8-seater but can also extend out to accommodate even more guests if needed. It's the perfect centrepiece for our room and the light natural wood colour really brightens up the space.

To go with the dining table is some modern bench seating by the form of the Malibu Woven Bench. It's made with the most stunning seagrass cord and it makes great seating both at the dining table or by the wall. It's a super versatile piece I can see having a multitude of uses throughout its life.

Underfoot, Ebony picked out the Beatrix Flatweave Rug in Blush. I love the pink and cream tones here which work super well with some warm-coloured prints I had selected for the space. When it comes to picking out a rug for your dining space, make sure there is plenty of room to place the chairs as well! Our rug is 244 x 305 cm and is the perfect size for our 8 seater table which is 107 x 218 cm in size.

A week later, we had the beautiful team over for some photos of our dining space and Ebony completed the space with some additional accent pieces to pair with existing decor and plants I already had in our home.

Guys how beautiful is this space? I honestly can't believe this our home. We've been loving this room every day and it's been the perfect place for all our meals, and is also such a lovely place to read a book or do some work on the laptop.

It feels like a dining space that's also made for living. One that's slow-paced, calming and uplifting. Filled with plants and nature, just how I like it.

I hope you enjoyed this collaboration with Pottery Barn. The Pottery Barn Design Crew is so exceptionally talented and the magic they have created is something we are so grateful to be able to enjoy for many years to come. I can't wait to see how this space 'lives in' - you'll be sure to see plenty more pictures of it here in the future!
